Today, I needed to use iCloud.com from my computer, but when I opened iCloud.com in Safari on my Mac and tried to login, I got a message that I had two way authorization switched on, and had to verify my login attempt from one of my registered devices. I immediately got a message on my Mac and on my iPhone, that “someone is trying to access my iCloud account from a location near…”, but the place mentioned was not my current location, it even was a place I haven’t visited ever…

What should I do ?

Answer :

Since the inlog attempt notification pops up on your Mac immediately after you try to access iCould.com yourself, you have a near-100% insurance that this occurs because you are trying to login yourself, even if the location isn’t displayed correctly. But for security-reasons, this is not your best option.

This inaccurate location problem is probably caused by the fact that for some reason your ISP (internet service provider) has routed you to a datacenter in the location mentioned and they are connecting you to the Internet from there.

Even though there is no apparent reason to expect any problems if you click OK on the warning asking if you are currently at that far-away location, it would be more secure to click DENY and then click on “resend verification code via SMS”. Then way a second or two and use that code to login on iCloud.com.
