Question :
I’ve been using Skype on my iPhone with great pleasure, but recently I have erratically subscribed to additional paid services, that I can do without as I am perfectly happy with the FREE version. Today I got a reminder that Skype will start charging my creditcard for these additional services soon.
I want to unsubscribe as soon as possible, but I can’t figure out how to…
What should I do ?
Answer :
As you have already pointed out, Skype is a great app, even if you’re only using the FREE services. Skype Support isn’t too helpful however if you want to unsubscribe from paid additional services you no longer (want to) use.
Here’s a little roundup of all you need to know :
-1-
If you want to change your subscriptions (or other Account-settings), you cannot do that within the Skype-app in iOS, you will have to login through your regular internet browser :
Using a Mac (or PC) for this is the easiest way, but you might be able to do it on an iPhone or iPad also…

On the Skype-internetsite you can stop various services that go with your account. Here’s the overview :
– cancel a subscription (e.g. an “Unlimited Europe”-subscription)
– cancel the Skype Premium services
– cancel your entire Skype account
(the services that you have active are listed in your Account settings on the Skype website)
A step-by-step guide on this can be found here :

To be able to login to Skype using a device that you’ve never used to do so before, you will need your Skype-password.
If you can’t remember your Skype-password, you will need to request a temporary one from Skype here :
Note #1 : if you reset your password, you will renew your login on all your Skype-enabled devices
Note #2 : the regular password-adjust/reset-option that’s on the Skype-website is not available if you do not know your current/old password…
Note #3 : different from nearly all other OSX-apps, Skype is listed in the OSX KeyChain-app, but a password can not be viewed. (for reuse)…
