My children have seen all the raving YouTube-reviews about the painting game Passpartout The Starving Artist by Flamebait Games. Now they want to play the game themselves, but they don’t have a Mac or a PC…
Is there a way to play Passpartout The Starving Artist on their iPad ?
Yes, there is an official iOS-version of the Passpartout The Starving Artist game for sale on the iOS App Store :
My children have an iPad with a managed account ; they can’t buy any apps from the iTunes App Store nor can they do any In-App Purchases without my approval ; every time they want to buy something from their iPad, I get a message on my iPhone that I need to approve the purchase.
This normally works without a flaw, but today when my children asked for a new app, I got the approval question message on my iPhone, but when I opened it, the iTunes App store wouldn’t load ; the page stays blank and the wheel keeps on spinning… no matter how many times I try… same thing every time… even restarting my iPhone didn’t help…
What is wrong ?
Since the introduction of iOS 11, there’s also a new version of the iTunes App Store as you might have noticed… now this new App Store was made more consumer-friendly as it does no longer show you apps that can’t run on your device.
This ‘consumer-friendliness’ has introduced a flaw (or rather a bug) : on your iPhone you can no longer see iPad-only apps in the App Store… that turns out to be problematic for the approval process : as your iPhone can’t show the app your children want to purchase for their iPad, you can’t approve it…
Until Apple fixes this, the only option is to approve the purchase from your own iPad… (so I sure hope you have one…) or temporarily switch of limitations on your children’s iPad…
NOTE : even approval from iTunes on your Mac isn’t an option, as Apple has stripped the iOS Apps section from the iTunes app recently…
I just received a WhatsApp message from someone which had some words written in bold letters. I want to reply using some bold writing myself, but I can’t find any option to do so on the keyboard.
How can I typ text in bold ?
When typing text in a WhatsApp message, you can make text (letters, numbers, words, sentences) bold by just typing an asterisk (the * symbol) directly before and directly behind the text you want to display in bold. So, if you type *bold* in your message, it will display as bold on the receiver’s screen.
I just upgraded to iOS 11 and I’m very happy with this new version of iOS, but when I opened the Calendar app and went into Month-view I noticed that all weeks now start on Sundays, which I find very confusing.
I can remember that I was able to choose on what weekday my weeks should start, but I have set that long ago in some previous version of iOS to never be bothered with it again.
But now it’s been reset to the (American ?) weeks starting ons Sundays, which is very annoying as we (Europeans) tend to start new weeks on Mondays…
…where has the option to customize this gone ?
This is very simple to fix, you just need to know where to find it :
open the Settings app on your iOS 11 iPhone or iPad
then goto Calendar
then on the next page you can adjust the settings of your Calendar, and adjust it according to your preference
then click on “Start Week On” and choose “Monday” from the list
If you can’t figure out how to do that, or you’ve tried and it doesn’t work for you, try this :
if you have an iPad with a GSM SIM-card installed, make sure you have the SIM’s 4-digit PIN-code at hand, then pop the SIM-card out using a bended paperclip or the official tool that’s comes with every iPhone and every SIM-card enabled iPad
then, on your Mac, go to Apple-icon (top-left in the menu bar) –> system Preferences –> iCloud
in the window that opens, see what eMail-address is listed under your name ; make sure to remember that eMail-address : this is your iCloud-account name (which might be different from your AppleID or iTunes Store-account name)
then click on “Account Details” and type the password that is connected to your iCloud-account name
if a new window opens, remember this password and close the window
if you get an error message that your password is incorrect, make sure you find the password and try again (you can try several times, but if you get a warning that you have only a limited amount of attempts remaining, stop immediately !! and skip this step)
now return to your iPad and do a reset by pressing the Home-button (physical button below the screen) and the Power-button (physical button on the right edge or top edge) simultaneously until the screen goes black and the white Apple logo appears
now, proceed though the following screens as you normally would until you are asked to enter your Account Name : there you should enter the eMail-address that is your iCloud-account name and the corresponding password
if this works, don’t forget to put the Sim-card back into your iPad and you’re done
if you happen to run into the Activation Server error page again before you get to the page where you should enter your Account Name, do this :
open the AppStore-app on your Mac
make sure you have installed all official Apple updates (especially iTunes)
connect your iPad directly (so without USB-hubs) to your Mac using the iPad-to-USB-cable
on your Mac, open iTunes
then do the reset on you iPad agian, simultaneously pressing the Home- and Power-buttons until the Apple logo appears
now iTunes (on your Mac) should detect your iPad
if it doesn’t, try the reset again
if it does, see if you can go trough all setup screen on your iPad
if you are unable to do so, go to iTunes on your Mac
if a message appears you need to unlock your iPad, type the screen unlock code on your iPad
if a “Trust this iPad ?” message appears on your Mac, click “Trust”
if a “Trust this Mac ?” message appears on your iPad, click “Trust”
now you see a small button with an iPad on it next to the Music/Films/etc.-pulldown menu ; click on it
in the next window, you should now be able to initiate the iOS-update of your iPad from your computer
then wait for the update to complete
afterwards, do not forget to put the SIM-card back into your iPad
